2019 05 24 * THE TAVERN [Ventura, CA] The Intelligence, The Spires, VNLVX

you know how i am going to new places, right? especially bars. barf. i get a little anxious and phych myself out usually, but i wanted to go to this show so i decided to at least try. drove up to ventura early to go to the thrift stores and as i was turning a corner i saw winston! yesss! so i yelled to him out the passenger window and he met me at my car. he was going to the thrift store too. perfect! always fun to run into and hang with winston. and then we met up with nadia and got pizza and then they came decide to go to the show too! yesss! i don't have to go alone thank god. (omg is this turning into my livejournal somehow? i'm okay with that).

anyway so we went to the tavern and it's this beautiful huge old house that has a bunch of small rooms and a huge back patio area. we sat outside until the show started. i didn't even have to bring my book to the show haha.

okay so yah, VNLVX was first and they played through a soon-to-be album. so good! i did a show for the intelligence back in 2009 at biko but there was a free concert on campus that night and barely anyone came out. i think snoop dogg? but it was a stacked show so it was fun anyway. but it was cool to see them again. they're pretty weird. and of course the spires are a treasure. haven't seen them in a while so that was nice!
