"Sogorea Te' Land Trust is an urban Indigenous women-led land trust based in the San Francisco Bay Area that facilitates the return of Indigenous land to Indigenous people.

Through the practices of rematriation, cultural revitalization, and land restoration, Sogorea Te' calls on native and non-native peoples to heal and transform the legacies of colonization, genocide, and patriarchy and to do the work our ancestors and future generations are calling us to do.

We are poised to purchase our first piece of land and a beautiful 3 bedroom, 2 bath house in Huchiun, East Oakland. This house sits directly across the street from another house that is also being Rematriated to Sogorea Te'. Together, these two pieces of land will house Indigenous staff members and their families along with office space and the first Chochenyo Language Institute. They will also be the first two properties we have outright title to. This is a huge step forward in our work of Rematriation, taking this Lisjan land off the speculative market forever and providing long-term, affordable housing for our community.

In order to purchase this house, we need to raise $750,000 by August 28th.

We know this is a very short timeline. This opportunity came to us when the house was already under contract by another buyer, who decided not to buy it and instead offered the contract to us. Now we have to raise the necessary funds to close escrow. This is a stretch, but with the support of our community, we know anything is possible! Please help us return this Indigenous land to Indigenous hands."
