NEXT SHOW / PREVIOUS SHOW

i'm realizing that while i mentioned indiepop and hardcore (again, i know hardcore is an apex genre with lots of nuance that i don't know much about) last week as feeling siloed in some ways, i think it's so interesting that they both specifically overlap quite a bit. maybe more than other seemingly siloed genres within diy? like, in oxnard some years ago there was crossover between yay records pop and local hardcore (nardcore). maybe it was just the folks that i was around, but there was totally overlap. and then up north in san jose there seemed to be a lot of crossover in spaces like think and die thinking, which was a pretty mixed fest. this is california centric cause that's where i am but i imagine this happens elsewhere? i have friends that crossover in the pacific northwest too so i assume it does. also, was it like that in the 90s as well? is it like that internationally?

the first radio show i did in 2005 was with my friend cole and it was called "cuddle and core" and it was basically a hardcore/twee combo show. and it worked pretty well. people appreciate a dichotomy. they compliment each other. makes sense.
